We’re looking for a Lead UX Researcher to drive research for a next-generation retail technology system. This is a high-impact role focused on making a complex system intuitive, fast, and easy to learn for baristas. You’ll be embedded in a cross-functional team (design, product, engineering, operations) that works in a rapid, iterative, user-centric process. As a lead level researcher, you'll be a key driver of the process to ensure we deliver experience that helps our baristas delight our customers, every time.

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research in a rapid, iterative environment, with close cross-functional collaboration.
  • Evaluate system usability in real-world environments, mocked up environments, our out-of-context as appropriate.
  • Set prototype requirements, getting into design tools to collaborate as needed.
  • Define and measure quantitative UX goals and metrics to evaluate success in early iteration phases as well as post-release.
  • Assess product readiness for rollouts at increasing degrees of scale, ensuring user experience issues are identified early and effectively prioritized based on scale and severity.
  • Translate insights into clear, actionable guidance for the cross-functional team.
  • Become the expert on user needs in the product domain, telling compelling research-driven stories to influence leadership decisions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years as a UX researcher embedded in a cross-functional team with a rapid, iterative process.
  • 2+ years leading research, proactively planning research that drives the product roadmap.
  • Hands-on experience driving the full user research lifecycle (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting, and communicating).
  • Strong qualitative research skills, with an ability to use quantitative methods such as attitudinal surveys and benchmark usability testing as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across business functions.
  • Experience bringing technology products from concept to scaled release, preferably in a retail, food service, or other operational environment.
  • A degree in Human Computer-Interaction, Human Factors, Information Systems, Cognitive Science, or a similar degree with a research component, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong portfolio/case studies demonstrating strong methodology, collaboration, and how your research influenced outcomes (to be reviewed in interview process - online portfolio not required).
  • Familiarity with building/editing Figma prototypes is a plus.
