Job Description

Pay Range The range is provided by Crossnore Communities for Children. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more. $37,000.00/yr - $43,000.00/yr Location Western North Carolina; homes located in Winston-Salem, Hendersonville, Avery County, and Smoky Mountain region. Schedule Full Time, Exempt (24/7, live-in position while on shift, approximately 16 days a month). While on shift, Respite Bridge Parents will live on site (including evenings and weekends) for the duration of each Respite event that they cover. Respite events usually range from 1-4 days. Schedule may include holidays. Housing, meals, local transportation, and supplies provided while on shift. Work will involve travel to and living in Bridging Families homes throughout the region. Additional travel may include human services agencies, clinics, hospitals, offices, and field trip locations. Salary Hiring Range: $37,000 - $43,000 annually; $3,000 sign on bonus . Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Candidates who meet only the minimum requirements can expect to start at the beginning of the range, while those with additional and relevant experience and/or advanced skills may be considered for higher starting pay within the range. Education & Experience High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable. Minimum of two years experience in working with children and families required, preferably in a mental health or child welfare setting. Prior residential / house parent experience or previous foster parent experience and knowledge of age‑appropriate living skills strongly preferred. Job Duties Provide respite, reside onsite, and provide twenty‑four‑hour support and supervision for up to 6 foster youth. Ensure the physical, emotional, educational, social, spiritual, and cultural needs of each individual resident are met, and appropriate safety and supervision of all residents is maintained. Responsible for the implementation, compliance, and documentation of Foster Care licensing regulations and Crossnore Communities for Children’s policies and procedures. As an active part of a multidisciplinary team, assess foster youth needs related to service plans, meeting treatment objectives, and providing support and assistance in developing appropriate parenting techniques and emotional climate, including crisis and trauma‑informed interventions. Maintain professional relationships, clear communication, and consistent contact with placement workers, case managers, therapists, teachers, advocates, attorneys, psychiatrists, doctors, dentists, child welfare professionals, and other supportive partners. Administer medications as instructed, attend all scheduled medical appointments, and follow through with any and all recommendations made by the medical professionals. Monitor school attendance, assist with homework and projects, participate in school activities, and advocate for youth’s needs within the school system. Report all issues, concerns, problems, or situations that may adversely affect the welfare and safety of the youth, staff, or program to the manager or program director. Participate in all mandatory trainings provided by or identified by Crossnore as necessary to support the day‑to‑day requirements of the position as well as supplemental trainings, support groups, and meetings; individual / group supervision; all applicable agency/state trainings and meetings.
